Peggy was drawn to yoga in 2011 at a time when her brother was healing from heart valve repair and hip replacement surgeries.  She found the practice of connecting breath to movement to be powerfully healing.  Upon retiring from Virginia Tech in 2013, she began a daily practice.  Wanting to deepen her personal practice, she completed a 200 Hour Satsang Foundational Yoga Teacher Training Certification in May 2015 through In Balance Yoga with Courtney Barr and Amy Gallagher.  She followed that with a Restorative Yoga Teacher training with Colleen Dwyer in October 2015, and completed training and contact hours for a 200 hour Hatha Yoga Teacher Certification with Anna Pittman at The Breathing Space in October 2016. She is excited to embark on her next journey of learning through the 200 hour Kunga Yoga intensive program at In Balance Yoga in July 2017 with Kristen Cooper-Gulak, Narayani Noelle Whittington and Nicole Fitzwater Boyle.   Peggy believes that yoga truly is a map guiding us home to a place of peace and relaxed openness in each moment.  She loves a meditative vinyasa flow, as well as restorative and therapeutic practices centered on the ebb and flow of our essential breath.  Peggy’s interests include stress management, back care, and posture, balance and stability practices.  She has completed eCourses with Dr. Carrie Demers and Sandra Anderson, senior faculty at the Himalayan Institute, Dr. Gill Solberg, yoga therapist specializing in posture disorders in Israel, and Donna Farhi, yoga teacher and author of 5 yoga books in New Zealand.   When not on the mat, Peggy can be found near the golf course with her husband, Theta, and golden retriever, Mulligan. She is so appreciative to Nicole Boyle and all of the wonderful teachers and opportunities at In Balance Yoga.
