Mary has lived the past 37 years in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Floyd, VA where the quietude of the land has guided and supported her. Her love of yoga is rooted in a deep curiosity about the indivisible nature of mind, body and spirit. It is her belief that the path of yoga provides the means for lasting contentment and awakens us to the realization of the interconnectedness of all beings.
Mary was raised in a large Catholic family where devotion and service were modeled to her in everyday life. Her grandfather was an artist and his frescoes of saints, his shrines of holy beings, and his prolific paintings of the churches of Italy are etched deep in her consciousness.
The roots of her childhood, Mary’s belief in the healing and transformative power of yoga and vicharana (being in the right place at the right time) led her to her teachers, David Life and Sharon Gannon, co-founders of the renowned Jivamukti Yoga School located in NYC.
She completed a 300 Hour Jivamukti Yoga certification training in 2003 and has been teaching yoga since 2005. She has had the good fortune to participate in workshops and classes with many gifted teachers.
Her yoga classes reflect the knowledge of 22 years of study in anatomy and physiology as a licensed massage therapist. She teaches a disciplined class with an emphasis on fluid breathing and proper alignment. Flowing asana, chanting, music, philosophy and deep relaxation infuse each class.
Her highest intention in the class room is to create a non-judgmental atmosphere where all students are honored and supported. With humbleness and gratitude, She offers all her efforts to her teachers for their selfless dedication to the teaching of yoga.
