Kimberly discovered Yoga in 1999 as a way to relieve the stresses of working in the hospitality industry and has never looked back. Her love of the practice inspired her to read and study to learn as much as she could about yoga. During a workshop at her yoga studio home the teacher stated, “You will know it’s time to teach when your knowledge of the practice becomes so great it begins to spill out into everything that you do and say.” In her classes, Kim speaks from an embodiment of experience and encourages personal exploration and expression. In Chicago, her students were as young as 99 and as old as 3. Upon returning to the town she grew up in, she hopes to share the practice of yoga with the surrounding areas.
She completed a 300 Hour Yoga Teacher Training certification through Moksha Yoga Center in 2006 in Chicago Illinois with Daren Friesen. Kimberly also taught Beginning Yoga Studies at Columbia College’s Dance Center for 8 years and has taught in both the group and private settings. Presently, Kimberly is working her way through Rod Stryker’s ParaYoga teacher training program, having completed 7 of a 9-tiered program and is also a student of Samudra: Global School of Living Yoga with Shiva Rae. She is both grateful and honored to have studied extensively with many yoga masters. Kim also owns Downey Dog Yoga in Radford, VA.
